JOB TITLE: Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Engineer

The successful candidate will support our work with the Director, Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) Department; the Headquarters Marine Corps department charged planning, directing, and coordinating all staff activities relating to C4 functions of the Marine Corps to include support to all Chief Information Officer activities.

Perform analyses and develop related recommendations and technical information for telecommunication initiatives and system interoperability and architecture impacts.
Provide systems engineering life cycle analyses for all USMC UHF/SHF/EHF/SATCOM terminals. Serve as a member of MAGTF, Naval, Joint IPTs, boards panels, providing SME expertise for C4 systems.
Perform SATCOM radio frequency (RF) engineering link analyses in order to determine optimal characteristics and capabilities of both legacy and future SATCOM terminals and their RF links through desired military and commercial satellite constellations.
Perform engineering analysis of current and future MAGTF SATCOM and network architectures to address bandwidth efficiencies and review program documentation providing input for programming strategies.
Author briefings, technical reports and strategy papers for senior leadership. Interface with MARCORSYSCOM to monitor MAGTF C4 system development within the acquisition process, including out-year investment funding, milestones, lifecycle support, fielding and legacy system interoperability.


Security Clearance: TS SCI

12 years of experience with communications system engineering, 4+ years of experience with systems engineering fundamentals, including the development of requirements and capabilities,
Experience with Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS), Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS), Military and Strategic Relay (MILSTAR) and Commercial SATCOM systems, Tactical Wideband Transmission Systems (TWTS), Position, Navigation and Timing systems/technologies to include Blue Force Tracker (BFT) network services.
Systems-knowledge of CJSCI 6250 and USSTRATCOM 714 series instructions

  TS/SCI security clearance  required

Experience with the acquisition of USMC and DoD systems
Experience with Milstar, Advanced EHF (AEHF), Global Broadcast Service (GBS), Commercial SATCOM, iDirect/LinkWay modems, and Army Joint Network Node (JNN)/Fixed Regional Hub Network (FHRN) nodes
Experience with RF waveform development and digital signal processing-Experience with DoD’s Global SATCOM Support Center (GSSC) and Regional SATCOM Support Center (RSSC)
Possession of excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
BS degree in Systems Engineering or a related field preferred; MS degree in Systems Engineering, EE, or a related technical field a plus
